song bird

there is something about this neighbourhood that always has me singing leonard cohen tunes...and it isn't all about the "music on clinton street" either...yesterday, i was walking to the chinese grocery to get a six pack for the day's football...it was one of those magnificent grey overcast irish mornings, where you can smell the sea, and the sun sleeps in...i was in such a good mood as i passed the mexican restaurant on houston that i started singing 'last year's man'...and god it made the entire day intense and real...i became part of this world for an instant...today the same thing happened...i was laying in bed listening to 'time has told me' by nick drake, which i have heard a million times before...but somehow, this time i really listened, more-so than ever...and realized for an instant what he was really talking about...i wonder sometimes, my faithful readers, if anyone really knows what anybody is talking about...except in those brief moments of realization...
